Lamb Bros.

The Lamb Family from Lime Tree Farm, Richhill, Co. Armagh , have long been associated with pedigree livestock breeds and a close association over the past fifty years with pedigree Dorset Horn sheep.

John B. Lamb ran a small flock of Dorsets alongside the main farm enterprises of Ayrshire dairy cattle and cereal crops, with the initial flock purchases coming from Maurice Allen’s Finchogue Flock in Wexford, Eire. Many prizes were won and top prices gained over the years with the renowned pedigree livestock from the Lamb Family Farm.

Two generations later Ben and Peter Lamb under the guidance of their father Robin and Granda Lamb, still pursue the attributes of the famous Dorset Horn sheep and their close relationship with Lime Tree Farm, have developed their Richhill flock into one of the top Dorset Flocks in the country and probably nationally as well in that a ram lamb from their flock this year won Best Horn Ram exhibit at the 2007 May Fair on their first time exhibiting. Ben and Peter’s rejuvenation of the Richhill prefix came as purchases from Elinn Eastwood, Lavrock Flock in Yorkshire and Norman Hammond’s Annaghone Flock, Stewartstown and has seen the brothers win Champion Flock once and Reserve Champion 3 times on 4 years entering the Northern Ireland Flock Competition, and gained Best Small Flock under 25 ewes on the UK in 2000. Numerous prizes have been won at local show level as well with the top sale award being Reserve Champion at Ballyclare in 2005, surpassed only by this years Champion Horn exhibit at the Exeter May Fair.

Ben and Peter will be exhibiting at Ballymena on 30th July 2007 with more of their top Richhill stock from this renowned family farm which has also prizewinning Rode Island Red poultry and Aberdeen Angus cattle.
