Trimming Workshop

Richard Currie Trimming Workshop

On a very wet Saturday, in mid June the N.I. Dorset Club organised a sheep trimming workshop at Downkillybegs, Ballymena for members of the Club who were interested in learning how to trim show sheep or further their knowledge on show preparation.

Richard Currie, from the Hilltop Flock at Ballymena led the workshop and went through in exact detail what was involved in preparing a sheep for the show ring. Richard then picked a lamb to demonstrate on while each of the participants also chose a lamb each to use in the demonstration.

The lambs were all put into headstocks and as Richard went about preparing the wool for trimming, the ten breeders each followed Richard's lead and took on board the advice Richard gave on carding, trimming and finishing. 
After the demonstration was finished everyone enjoyed a simple barbeque.
