The annual Autumn show and sale of pedigree Dorset Sheep was held on Wednesday evening 10th October 2007 at McClellands Livestock Market, Ballymena. The judging was in the very capable hands of breed society chairman Mr Roland Davies from Wales and it was the Kildowney Flock belonging to Graham and Mary Cubitt who grabbed all the headlines!

Champion on the day was a big strong ram lamb from the Kildowney pen, a Trevilly Destructor son backed also with Hilltop blood he stood Supreme and male Champion. He sold to breed new comer Mr Black for 240gns. However it was a ram lamb from Mr Raymond Hills Oliver Tree flock which took top price in the male section selling at 300gns, lot number 182 in the catalogue. This lamb was again backed by Trevilly blood and his mother is the noted Blackhill C119, a member of Mr Hills 2007 show team.

Second highest bid in the males was Lot number 174 a very bold January born ram lamb forwarded by T&S Knox, a young lamb with superb muscling, a Kildowney son with Downkillybegs and Sandleford blood to back it up. After a rally of bids he joins the Ballytaggart Flock of Thomas Wright for 280gns.

Top price of the day at 420gns was lot number 43, a ewe lamb again exhibited by Graham and Mary Cubitt. She stood Reserve Champion overall, Female Champion and best opposite sex to the Champion in the pre-sale judging. After a rally the final bid came from new flock owners Mr and Mrs Maybin of the Grove, Ballymena. Again she was a Roci Fireball daughter with her dam being a home bred ewe A1 by a Ballyvaddy sire.

Second highest price in the ewe lamb section came from the Ballytaggart pen belonging to Thomas Wright, Lot number 21, a Huish Fred daughter and a Wilsey Tornado granddaughter. She sold to Alastair McNeill, Kilwaughter, Larne for 290gns. The Ballytaggart pen also collected the highest average in the female section making an average of 223gns each.
