On Friday the 19th August the NI Dorset Club held their inaugural show and sale at Omagh Livestock Centre, Omagh. This sale was kindly sponsored by Farm Care Products Suppliers of Top Flock. The judge for the evening was Trevor Knox of the highly successful Riverview flock, Armoy.

Placed overall show and sale champion was the first placed ewe lamb from the Bencran flock of S&S Lyons, Beragh. This twin, September born ewe lamb which was sired by Richhill Top Tip and out of a homebred Bencran ewe, caught the eye of the judge and was knocked down for 360gns to A Sloane, Dromore for his Dullaghan flock. Reserve champion was handed to the first prize shearling ewe presented by A Dodds of the Glenbrae flock, Saintfield. This ewe, sired by the English ram Wilsey T449 fetched the highest price for a female and joint second highest of the evening at 440gns, purchased by S&S Lyons. Other notable female prices for the evening were 360gns twice by C.Johnston, Crumlin, for a horned ewe lamb to J.McGuire, Castlederg and J&C Robson, Doagh to D.Hamilton, Maguiresbridge. S&S Lyons also achieved 340gns and 330gns for ewe lambs out of their pen, both purchased by J McCullough, Omagh.

The first and second prize ram lambs were awarded to M.Keys, Fintona, who also realised the top and joint second prices for the evening of 540gns and 440gns respectively, to L.Turkington, Cookstown and A.Devine, Dromore. Opposite sex champion was awarded to a shearling ram entry from J.Wilson of the Tardree flock. Sired by Downkillybegs Pluto the ram later fetched 250gns to G.Galbraith. The Tardree flocks other shearling ram entry fetched 300gns to T.Kerlin, Plumbridge. The top price shearling ram of 420gns was entered by C.Johnston and realised 420gns to R.Nixon, Enniskillen.
