The fourth annual show and sale of NI Horn and Poll Dorset Sheep Breeders Club, kindly sponsored by Top Flock was held in Omagh Livestock Mart on Friday 16th August, 2019.
This show and sale which is only in its fourth year is still relatively new to Omagh. That said, in total it attracted 59 entries with the continued popularity of the breed being reflected by the abundance of purchasers, interested in establishing a Dorset flock or in fact adding to their existing pedigree flock.
The judging of the various different classes took place during the early evening which was professionally carried out by Miss Amy McConnell, Beechmount Flock, Templepatrick.
As always, there was plenty of competition in each class, so it was after some careful consideration that Miss McConnell selected her champion which went to the 1st place ewe lamb brought forward from S&E Caldwell, Ballymaconnely Flock, Rasharkin. This tremendous lamb later went on to achieve 420gns sold to Willy McCracken, Loughgall.
Reserve champion was awarded to winner of the ram lamb class, lot 5 from G&S Miller, Coltrim flock, Moneymore. This much admired lamb went on to achieve the top price of the day at 650gns going to Breen Farms, Augher.
Other leading prices include; S&E Caldwell 400gns (Ewe lamb) to Willy McCracken, Loughgall; S&E Caldwell 350gns (Ewe lamb) to Norman Warnock, Plumbridge; A&GSloane 350gns (Ram lamb) to M&M McCullagh, Plumbridge ; S&S Lyons 340gns (Ewe lamb) to Breen Farms, Augher; S&S Lyons 320gns (Ewe lamb) to Malcolm Keys, Fintona
